Teaching and Training

  1. Clinical Skill Module: (Principles of general surgery and clinical skills):

This is considered as introduction for physical examination and eliciting clinical signs together with teaching the principles of general surgery topics to help the student to reach to the provisional diagnosis of different surgical diseases with very minimal stress on principles of treatment. This course is conducted in the fourth academic-year students among the clinical skill module.

  1. Ophthalmology:

It is still under the cover of general surgery and it is conducted for the he fourth academic-year students.

  1. General surgery and its subspecialties: It is conducted in sixth academic year and has duration of 15 weeks with 340 Contact Hours and 22 Credit Hours. Class room teaching with interactive lectures, optimal utilization of audio/visual teaching materials and bed side clinical training in hospitals with training in Clinical skill Labs. Students are trained in wards, and emergency room, OPD and ORs.

  2. Emergency module: Of two credit hours and 2 weeks duration. It is conducted for the sixth academic year.

  3. Anesthesia module: It is of 2 credit hours and of one-week duration and conducted for the fifth academic year

  4. Other Modules and Courses:  Department of surgery is actively involved in successful delivery of Integrated Case Based Curriculum which being spiral runs throughout 2nd to 6th year. Participation of general surgery is in almost all the modules throughout the academic year in cooperation with other departments
