Introduction:
Department of Surgery is an integral part of Clinical Sciences Branch of Faculty of Medicine in Rabigh. Surgery department was established with the establishment of the Rabigh Medical College in 2009 and is one of the important departments in clinical years at the Faculty of Medicine. The department focuses on teaching the basis of general surgery topics needed for any surgical subspeciality as shock, blood transfusion, wound healing, water and electrolytes and acid base balance. Also, the department deals with teaching all surgical subspecialies including ophthalmology, urology, orthopedics, Head and neck, surgical endocrinology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, neurosurgery, alimentary tract surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery.
Its main target is to give the best undergraduate training to the students aiming to provide them with necessary knowledge, attitude, skills and experience for the diagnosis and treatment of common emergency, acute and chronic surgical diseases in all age groups and in all subspecialties of general surgery.
The Department consists of a group of highly qualified and vastly experienced dedicated full-time faculty to accomplish above mentioned tasks and to shoulder the responsibility of providing the healthcare sector in the Kingdom with highly qualified physicians with safe practice for the medical profession.
Department’s Vision:
The Department aims to provide the students of the Faculty of Medicine with basic theoretical information about the specialty and prepare them to acquire the basic clinical skills to deal with common diseases in the different subspecialties of surgery during the clinical years. The department also provides the opportunity of clinical training for medical students and interns.
